The city of Rochester is well known for its innovators and inventors, but did you know that the city was the home of the largest and most expensive building in the United States west of Albany? This month’s Mourning in the Morning focuses on the life and innovations of Abelard Reynolds, a significant but overlooked innovator during Rochester’s earliest days.

Sarah Johnson is a member of the Friends of Mount Hope, the volunteer organization tasked with supporting renovations of the cemetery and preserving the stories of those buried there. Sarah leads tours of the cemetery and writes for the FOMH newsletter, Epitaph. She is a recovering management consultant and holds graduate degrees from The Ohio State University.
