The Douglass family lived in southeast Rochester for 24 years, leading presenter Rose O’Keefe to wonder what their life was like, and to connect present readers to past realities, like the strict privacy of women in the mid-1800s.
Rose O’Keefe is a non-fiction and historical fiction author in Rochester, New York. In the process of falling in love with the Finger Lakes area, she became keenly interested in the family life of Frederick and Anna Douglass. O’Keefe was among the first history authors to recognize the tremendous support Frederick received from his highly competent wife, Anna.
