REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED (see below). Registrants will receive the Zoom link in an email one hour before the talk begins.

In the spring of 2021, a committee of The Friends of Mount Hope began a project to recognize and remember the many Holocaust survivors buried in our cemetery. We have raised funds to erect a Holocaust Monument, create a Holocaust Archive on the Friends’ website, and develop educational programs. This morning we will lead you on a virtual walk through some survivors’ grave sites and tell the intertwining stories we have discovered while interviewing their families.

Marcia Birken is Professor Emerita from the School of Mathematical Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology where she studied patterns, particularly those found in the natural world. She is co-author of the book, Discovering Patterns in Mathematics and Poetry. Her interests include art quilting, historical research, and photography.

Marjorie Searl retired from Memorial Art Gallery in 2013 as Chief Curator. She has loved studying historic cemeteries from her youngest years. The Holocaust Memorial project combines her love of history with her love of her Jewish heritage.
