On March 15th the Holocaust Committee of the Friends of Mount Hope was invited by Tony Filer to attend his presentation at the Monroe Community College Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights meeting.

We were greeted by Professor Michael Boester who commended Tony on his long-term commitment to the MCC organization. Tony, a founding member of the FOMH Holocaust Project, described the work being done at Mount Hope to commemorate Holocaust survivors buried in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Tony introduced his colleagues on the FOMH team and they explained to the students the work of the Friends and their roles in the project. The students were enthusiastic with many questions. They were eager to get involved and share in our research needs.

Co-chair Marcia Birken commented, “Interacting with the students was a wonderful experience and gives me hope for the future. Hopefully some of the students will want to assist us in doing research on the many Holocaust survivors buried at Mount Hope that do not have stories on our website.”

Thanks to Tony we have established a wonderful collaboration with MCC, Professor Boester,  and his students. What a gift these students are! And what a credit to MCC!
