“Ales from the Crypt” – The Birth of a New Theme Tour

Marburger, Rau, Bartholomay– these are but a few of the many brewers that comprised Rochester’s rich history of beer making. On Saturday, September 9th the FOMH debuted a fascinating new tour entitled “Ales From the Crypt.”

This tour was researched, written, and led by Sarah Johnson and Chris Grooms, two of the Friends’ excellent historian/guides. A gray sky with a light rain falling did not stop 61 tour guests from enjoying the interesting history and beauty within Mount Hope Cemetery. Following the tour all were invited to Swiftwater Brewing Company, located at 378 Mount Hope Ave, to raise a pint and enjoy a short talk about Rochester’s current history of brewing, given by WXXI’s Gino Fanelli.

A huge thanks to all who came out for this new tour, and kudos to Sarah and Chris on a really terrific tour!
