Like his wife, Hilde, Ernst (born Ernst Rothschild) left Germany when he was 18 and found safety in the United States. Both he and Hilde were born in Frankfurt am Maine. They had two children in the United States. Ernest served in World War 2 in the United States Army. He spent much of his life in California and died there.
