An Illustrious Family of Groundbreakers and Innovators

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED (see below). Registrants will receive the Zoom link in an email one hour before the talk begins.

Hailing from Connecticut and settling in early 19th century Rochester, the Selden family was known for keen legal and judicial minds as well as technical innovation. From the formation of Western Union, to the defense of Susan B. Anthony, to the invention of the gas automobile, their innovations in many areas led to where we are today. Ultimately buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, we’ll share their stories and contributions to Rochester, the nation, and the world.

Sally Millick is a past trustee, and longtime cemetery tour author, researcher, and guide with the Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery. She is currently a board member of the Friends and Foundation of Rochester Public Library. She has contributed to several books on history of upstate NY and Mount Hope Cemetery and has photographed many Victorian-era cemeteries in her travels – most recently to the Colon Cemetery in Havana, Cuba.
